Q: Can I convert my DVD player so that it accepts Region 1 DVDs and similar?

A: The answer is yes, and it is legal! Check out this link here courtesy of Money Saving Expert

Q: Where can i buy DVDs of the first series of 'Till Death Do Us Part' ?

A: Most of the show's 24 episodes from seasons 1-3 that were videotaped in black and white no longer exist. They were wiped by the BBC during the early 1970s. Currently, of the 24 episodes, only seven still survive in their entirety.

Q: I was wondering if there is any way to fix a disk that has been scratched, and hence doesn't play properly?

A: First of all try cleaning it, use a little liquid soap and warm water and gently rub the disc with your finger, starting near the centre and rubbing outwards towards the edge. Let the disc air dry then try it out.
Perhaps try the disc in another player to make sure it isn't the player that is faulty and not the cd.
Try rubbing the scratch with a little toothpaste or brasso, again starting from the centre and rubbing in straight lines towards the edge, clean with a cloth and test again. Another idea is to apply a thin layer of vaseline then remove with a cloth.
If none of these work, there are professionals who can repair cds which might be worth looking into if your data is not replacable, ie. digital photos etc.

Q: If there is dust or finger marks on a DVD can it be cleaned and if so what with?

A: Yes, remember to always hold your discs by the edge to prevent more finger marks, using a lint free cloth wipe in straight lines from the centre outwards. Wiping in a circular motion can cause further scratches. If this doesn't do the trick, moisten your cloth with a mild soap and water solution and repeat.

Q: What are dual-region DVD`s?

A: Dual-region DVD's are DVD's that are coded to work in more then one region. For the globe trotters amongst us, this can be beneficial as you may be able to buy a dvd that will work on different countries players.

Q: What countries do the region codes relate to?

A: Check the list below!

Region 0: All areas of the world. (Dependent on video standard)
Region 1: Canada and U.S.
Region 2: Japan (NTSC), Europe, South Africa, Middle East.
Region 3: Southeast Asia, East Asia, Hong Kong.
Region 4: Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands, Central America, Mexico, South America, Caribbean.
Region 5: Former Soviet Union, Indian Subcontinent, Africa, North Korea, Mongolia.
Region 6: China.
Region 7: Unused (Reserved).
Region 8: Special international venues (airplanes, cruise ships, etc.).
